Ignoring directories on the SD card

Hi,

I was just about to post a question about how to ignore certain directories on the sd card... very similar to the other threads (except they were talking about ignoring ringtones, etc). My problem is that I have other applications that store their music files on the sd card, and music player/tune wiki was picking these up - which was very annoying.

However I have just found the solution - you might want to add this to your FAQ's....

Add a ".nomedia" in a directory, and that directory, along with all of it's sub directories will not be scanned for music (best way to do this is mount the SD card).
I'm on Linunx - not sure how easy windows users will find deleting a .nomedia file - but still - that's the answer.

Thanks.

No problem.

Just found a windows solution (as windows doesn't like "dot" files)....

Mount the SDCard, create a nomedia file (put a .txt extension if need be) in the directory that you need it
Remount the SDCard
Use Astro file browser to rename the file ".nomedia"
Job done :)

Only problem with this solution is that any custom alerts, ringtones, or notification are no longer available for use.

Adding a .nomedia to a ringtones folder removes those from the list in the options for selection.
