Old lyrics still showing up

I've noticed that after lyrics have been updated at tunewiki.com, my iPhone still shows the old lyrics when playing that song at a later date.

I'm assuming those lyrics are somehow buffered on my device. If there is a cache stored on my device, how can I clear it so the correct lyrics show?

I tried refreshing the artists & albums but that didn't affect it.

Thanks! :)

Hi Danno

If your iPhone has album info but the song you edited on our website did not contain the album info then you will find there is no change.
When editing the songs you need to make sure the details are exactly the same on both your phone and on the website.

Note: there is an editing functionality in the phone itself.

I'm confused on this point also. I don't care about album art for the moment, I only want to get updated lyrics to display on my iPhone. I successfully fixed all the accents in the song Bille de Verre by Michel Rivard and it now looks correct on the website viewed on a PC (note: I did this by using Google Translate to get an accent and then cutting and pasting - I couldn't figure out how to enter directly since I don't have an international keyboard and there seems to be no GUI for accents - which might be nice). But my iPhone still shows the old lyrics with the messed up accents and it isn't obvious to me how to fix this. A button that says something like re-download lyrics is definitely needed either in the menu or on the song playing screen.

Hi Dara

TuneWiki should check for new lyrics and update them as necessary.

There may be a different version of the lyrics on the website for various reasions... if your iPhone has the album name in the song information then you need to make sure you are editing the version on our website with the album name (if such a version exists).

Same problem here.

I have updated Stings "Sacred love" and I got still the old lyrics in my iPhone. Haven't found the old lyrics version in the Tunewiki Database... So I also guess that it is cached somewhere...

Hello Refardeon

I just looked up your account and it is not an editor account so I fail to see how you could have updated the lyrics.

I can confirm the very same issue for the Symbian platform. (I have reported this several months ago.)

I can search for the lyrics of a song I'm listening to, and the search result shows the correct lyrics. The lyrics displayed in the player view are still the old ones!

There is no chance that there are different lyrics with similar titles, I have double checked several times. Also, as probably other users too, I have simply edited existing lyrics without changing meta data (such as song title, album, etc.)

This *is* bug. No kidding.

Hello Peterino

If it is a bug then I am unable to reproduce it.

Please try this:

Play the song on your device and then blip it to your facebook or twitter wall.
On your computer, click on the link in the blip and it will take you to the correct version of the lyrics on our website.
Edit the lyrics. Save them.
Allow 10 minutes to pass before playing the song again on your device. It might be a good idea to restart TuneWiki if you have already played the song once in this session.

Are the lyrics now up to date? :)

Hi Louis,

I've played Unsterblich (Single Version) by Baschi and a link to the lyrics on TuneWiki shows up on my My TuneWiki Profile . (I haven't tweeted the song - have done this before, I don't want to irritate my followers - but I believe the links on the profile page are equally fine.)

There you go, then I have edited the song and played it. The old lyrics still show up (the very last word is "its", a misspelled German word). I've not waited for 10 minutes before playing the song again for the first time after editing, but now those minutes are definitely over. (If that's what causes the problem I'd say this is another bug of the app.)
Even worse: I've chosen "Menu > Re-sync song" on the app hoping to get TuneWiki figure out that the lyrics have changed on the server and sync'ed through quickly till the end, but now I have wrong lyrics and wrong syncs on my device, and when editing the song on your website it says the song is not synced yet. Cool, ha?
And yes, I have restarted TuneWiki and later also the whole phone several times. The result remains the same.

BTW, it seems like this issue can not be reproduced consistently. For example, I've edited In Meinem Leben by Nena before and it looked like it worked (the app said "syncs broken, acquiring new lyrics" or so, and fetched the new lyrics), but as the edit box on the website swallows the last "r" character (sorry, another weired bug: Only if the last character is an "r" it disappears!!) I edited the lyrics again and again (both, for the song and for the video, alternatingly I think), and now I've ended up with the same situation as above. I've got the old lyrics on the device synced, the new ones on the server - unsynced.

I think this is the last time I will report this bug.
Cheers, Peter

Hello Peterino

I will forward your issue about the letter 'R' to our web developer.

As for the issue with the edits you are making not saving, I'm unable to reproduce the issue with my iPhone.
Because I don't have a Symbian device, and this appears to be the problem, I am forwarding this matter to our QA department.

I appreciate your patience with resolving these issues.
Please expect a reply via email/support website within the next few days.

I am now closing this topic because it is going off-topic and it's in the iPhone section... this appears to be becoming a Symbian issue.
