well i have been using your TuneWiki for quite some time now and i gotta say i love it, i am using it on Nokia 5800xm
Well here are some tips
For Playlist maybe add a function to sync the playlists with the default nokia music player, or just to add files to playlists via folder select, like TTPod does
also, maybe add a fucntion to save the cover and lirics to a song, and maybe the song info, just like winamp does(if this is posible) so when we are offline we can also view the lirics and the album art
and maybe add a fucntion to rate the songs we have, and then we can view the songs via the rating we gave them(songs with a 5star rating will be put in a playlist with other songs with 5star ratings :))
and if its posible add a homescreen widget, not just for n97, but for 5800 also, just like the default player, TTPpod, juke box has, if they made it i think you guys can make it also
and maybe an option to auto download lirics and album art for all the songs, This would ROCK :D

Well thanks for your time, hope you will use some of these tips

Love your app, keep up the good work

Hi TuneWiki staff,

I have read somewhere about a "Pro version" for $4.99, but I was unable to find any information on your website. I also failed to find discussions about that on the forums. Basically, I want an ad free version of TuneWiki. I don't mind paying a few bucks for a banner free interface. I want the CD cover there and the lyrics, nothing more.

For all users reading this: I am using TuneWiki just for one day, and I love it! You might not even notice the small banner at the lower end of the main screen when the song plays. I did. It may not bug you much. After all the app is great and it's free, hey! Tastes are different, though.

My question: Do you have an ad free version available, or did you discard the idea of selling the app? I need it for Symbian (on a Samsung i8910 HD).

Hey staff,

when will the next version update for Symbian be available?

Some suggestions: (I didn't find any centralized list about suggestions, btw)
  • Detect changes to lyrics and sync data: Sometimes TuneWiki shows "Sorry, no lyrics" for songs I added lyrics myself for hours or even days. Sometimes when I alter lyrics they are not updated in the TuneWiki player on my mobile: I can search for them with TuneWiki and the updated lyrics are displayed (search result) but the playing song is accompanied by the out-of-date lyrics. A reload/refresh option if not an automatic check would be nice. Sometimes TuneWiki figures the lyrics are not synced, then after seconds it says "sync broken" or so and reloads the data, then it works. Also, when I adjust the metadata in an mp3 file in order to make author and title match the data stored for the lyrics on your server, and I do a re-scan of all music files nothing changes (i.e. author and title remain the same, and no lyrics are found). - So, something needs to be fixed here.
  • "Search lyrics" button when playing and lyrics are not found: Offer a "search for lyrics" button
    • which takes you to the current "Song Lyrics Search" screen, and
    • show a "Search lyrics on the Web" link (which fires up a Google search, e.g. "<artist> <song> lyrics", in the phone's web browser) if no lyrics were found.

  • Allow adding (and editing) lyrics directly from the TuneWiki app: Some users may want to type the lyrics while the song is playing continuously, others may want to paste the text from a web search result. I'd fix typos in existing lyrics immediately if it just took me a few seconds!
  • Enter current song details in "Song Lyrics Search" screen: That says it all. Similar to the video search (at least when you do a go back from the video search results).
  • Nicer world map in "Where is this song playing":
    • When moving the world map it should scroll continuously over all parts of the world. (Think of: Why can't Australia be at the center of the map when I am located there?) Ideally, when the whole world is showing it should look like a globe, not flat.
    • Zoom to minimum level where I can still view all listeners of the song. (Don't show the whole world map by default)

  • Resume with last song played: When I exit TuneWiki and start it again I'd love to simply continue my last random play with the song last played which is still tingeling in my ears. Ideally, the history of songs played should still be there (so I can go back 3 songs to play them again, as before my phone shut down due to power loss).
  • Repeat current song: I think this is not possible, currently. I'd have to create a playlist with one song. Sometimes I just want to listen to a new song the whole day long, 100 times or more.
  • Don't dim down or turn off display when showing/scrolling lyrics: This could be a user option in preferences, on by default. (Note: e.g. GiggleMaps doesn't dim the screen either as long as you move and the map is updated.)
  • More social integration:
    • Make TuneWiki tell me which users I should follow (music taste proximity matches). I have no idea who I should follow, and why, really.
    • Integrate into Blip.fm, Last.fm, etc.

"Heeello TuneWiki staff!" (Somebody here?) - Just wondering why there is no feedback...

Is this the right place to add feature requests? Or should we open a ticket for each such request on http://support.tunewiki.com ??

Hi
We do have ad free versions for a small fee on the other platforms we support
We will be adding this functionality to one of the upcoming versions

All the best

Hi
Sorry for the delayed response, here goes:
1. Detecting changes in Lyrics - Tunewiki identifies the song by Artist, Title and Album, because of the fact that there might be a few instances of a song (e.g. original, live show, cover, remake) and the nature of a Wiki service, you might be updating one song on the site and while the Meta data of the song on your device is slightly different
Heres a little trick on to update lyrics to the song you have on your device:
a. play the song on the device
b. blip your liking (or not) of the song to facebook/twitter
c. go to twitter/facebook and press the link to the song on our site (make sure you have logged in with your tunewiki user)
d. edit the lyrics of this song
e. wait 5 minutes allowing for database and all the servers to be updated
f. play the song on the device - you should see the correct version of the lyrics you just updated
If this fails: please send us the link to the song on the site and, if you can, the mp3 file as well, so we can figure it out - You can contact TuneWiki Support directly: here
2. Editing Lyrics - adding Lyrics editing abilities is on our plate - we need to figure out what is best done on the mobile device and what on the site
3. Map suggestions - noted, we will look into improving this
4. Resuming from last song played - great idea, we will look into getting this done in an upcoming version
5. Screen StayOn during playback - again, great idea :-)
6. Following users - we are working to improve this area of the product

Hope this answers most of your questions

Hi Gilad,

thanks for the good feedback!

Can you already give a rough roadmap, for some features at least? I really really can wait to see an update with at least my favorite features:

1. Leave screen on, 2. Repeat this song, 3. Remember where I left off, ... and of course all of my other suggestions :)

I also want to pay for an ad-free version for Symbian, finally.

Update me! Cheers, Peter

Hi Peter

I've passed on your suggestions to our Product Management team, we will have to wait and get some info from them regarding due dates

The ads-free version for Symbian is in the works - should be out sooner than later

All the best

Is there any hope that at least the above two features will be implemented one day?

I am driving a lot these days and I really hate it when the screen gets dark and I have to press a button to turn on the screen again. (That's really dangerous too as it distracts me from driving - more than reading lyrics ever would!)

Also resuming from the last state before exiting last time should be there soon. Isn't this considered to be state-of-the-art behavior of, e.g., any serious iPad/iPhone app? Users will be happy if TuneWiki can do it!

I count on you guys!

Hello all,

After seeing some recommendations and tips -well which I agree mostly- I'd love to add some as well.

*** Well of course first of all is scrobbler. I was using mobbler with Symbian default music player, Since I hate the default music player I am using Tunewiki without scrobbler and that makes me sad :(

*** In my library, files are mostly named like:

Pink Floyd - The Wall - 01 - In the flesh.mp3
Pink Floyd - The Wall - 02 - The thin ice.mp3

And they also auto tagged by winamp and their ID3 song numbers are correct. However in some scenarios Tunewiki persists to play those songs depending on alphabetically ordered song names. Maybe having an option to sort the files in the albums as we wish (file name, ID3 song number, alphebetically etc.) would be really nice.

*** A tiny button next to the song lists to be able to add those songs to the playlist quickly.

*** For the option above, maybe a preference to define a playlist as an option. So when we click that tiny button, that song will be added to that defined playlist automatically.
To be honest it is a bit pain to me to add some songs for a playlist and after I click "add to playlist" button, it is always asking which playlist I will add that song, which is kinda annoying...

Thank you very much in advance, if you just consider my recommendations as well :)

I use tunewiki on my XM5800 and I love it.

One feature that would make my task of editing my favorite internet radio stations (Shoutcast) simple would be to enable users view and modify their favorites through the My Settings/My Profile on the online account.

When I log into tunewiki thorugh my mobile, it should also be able to sync up with the changes made online.

Thanks! :)

Any hope for "Screen StayOn" and "Resuming from last song(s) played" being implemented for Symbian? (I understand Symbian is a dying platform, but my phone resists to stop living and have me get a Galaxy S.) Your last update some weeks ago just contained better, flashy display of ads...

I do very much like the (new?) profile features on your website, namely the list of "Top Artists" and "Top Songs". Could that be integrated in the TuneWiki player? Currently, TuneWiki's play lists feature is just for user generated lists. Why not offer 3 predefined lists?
  • My most played songs
  • My most played artists
  • Recently played songs

Item no. 1 and 2 would pull data online from the user profile, no. 3 would match the "Resuming from last song(s) played" feature (actually, this data is also recorded online, isn't it?).

I count on you guys! ("Screen StayOn" is my absolute priority ONE wish!)
Please implement these features to make my phone worth keeping!
Peter

Hii staff
Ive one suggestion too..
I think its so boring adding songs to my playlist one by one.. Couldnt you add the option "select this song" and after you select all you want then you add to your playlist? I think it would be great
And if you guys need help with translation from English to Portuguese-Brazil Im glad to help
Thanks

Hello staff,

I did not find in TuneWiki for Symbian option "set the backlight always on". It is anoying when the backlight turns off while you are reading the lyrics.

That's the "Screen StayOn" from above! I also need this feature desperately!!

"Resuming from last song(s) played" would also be veeery helpful to let me continue where I left off before exiting the application last time.

Any hope that this will be implemented for Symbian? You haven't yet dropped Symbian support, have you?

Do you have any ETA about an updated, or what will be included in the next update?
I also think you should add symbian belle to the list of supported systems. (e.g. Nokia store warns me that this doesn't work on my E7-belle. But it does... http://store.ovi.com/content/22436 )
This version is marked for belle, but costs €2.00 (without any advantages?) http://store.ovi.com/content/230631

greets,
