Hey staff,
when will the next version update for Symbian be available?
Some suggestions: (I didn't find any centralized list about suggestions, btw)
- Detect changes to lyrics and sync data: Sometimes TuneWiki shows "Sorry, no lyrics" for songs I added lyrics myself for hours or even days. Sometimes when I alter lyrics they are not updated in the TuneWiki player on my mobile: I can search for them with TuneWiki and the updated lyrics are displayed (search result) but the playing song is accompanied by the out-of-date lyrics. A reload/refresh option if not an automatic check would be nice. Sometimes TuneWiki figures the lyrics are not synced, then after seconds it says "sync broken" or so and reloads the data, then it works. So, something needs to be fixed here.
- "Search lyrics" button when playing and lyrics are not found: Offer a "search for lyrics" button
- which takes you to the current "Song Lyrics Search" screen, and
- show a "Search lyrics on the Web" link (which fires up a Google search, e.g. "<artist> <song> lyrics", in the phone's web browser) if no lyrics were found.
- Allow adding (and editing) lyrics directly from the TuneWiki app: Some users may want to type the lyrics while the song is playing continuously, others may want to paste the text from a web search result. I'd fix typos in existing lyrics immediately if it just took me a few seconds!
- Enter current song details in "Song Lyrics Search" screen: That says it all. Similar to the video search (at least when you do a go back from the video search results).
- Nicer world map in "Where is this song playing":
- When moving the world map it should scroll continuously over all parts of the world. (Think of: Why can't Australia be at the center of the map when I am located there?) Ideally, when the whole world is showing it should look like a globe, not flat.
- Zoom to minimum level where I can still view all listeners of the song. (Don't show the whole world map by default)
- Resume with last song played: When I exit TuneWiki and start it again I'd love to simply continue my last random play with the song last played which is still tingeling in my ears. Ideally, the history of songs played should still be there (so I can go back 3 songs to play them again, as before my phone shut down due to power loss).
- Repeat current song: I think this is not possible, currently. I'd have to create a playlist with one song. Sometimes I just want to listen to a new song the whole day long, 100 times or more.
- Don't dim down or turn off display when showing/scrolling lyrics: This could be a user option in preferences, on by default. (Note: e.g. GiggleMaps doesn't dim the screen either as long as you move and the map is updated.)
- More social integration:
- Make TuneWiki tell me which users I should follow (music taste proximity matches). I have no idea who I should follow, and why, really.
- Integrate into Blip.fm, Last.fm, etc.
Hi
Sorry for the delayed response, here goes:
1. Detecting changes in Lyrics - Tunewiki identifies the song by Artist, Title and Album, because of the fact that there might be a few instances of a song (e.g. original, live show, cover, remake) and the nature of a Wiki service, you might be updating one song on the site and while the Meta data of the song on your device is slightly different
Heres a little trick on to update lyrics to the song you have on your device:
a. play the song on the device
b. blip your liking (or not) of the song to facebook/twitter
c. go to twitter/facebook and press the link to the song on our site (make sure you have logged in with your tunewiki user)
d. edit the lyrics of this song
e. wait 5 minutes allowing for database and all the servers to be updated
f. play the song on the device - you should see the correct version of the lyrics you just updated
If this fails: please send us the link to the song on the site and, if you can, the mp3 file as well, so we can figure it out -
You can contact TuneWiki Support directly: here
2. Editing Lyrics - adding Lyrics editing abilities is on our plate - we need to figure out what is best done on the mobile device and what on the site
3. Map suggestions - noted, we will look into improving this
4. Resuming from last song played - great idea, we will look into getting this done in an upcoming version
5. Screen StayOn during playback - again, great idea :-)
6. Following users - we are working to improve this area of the product
Hope this answers most of your questions
